Washable Concert Clothes are Here – Say Goodbye to Dry-Clean Drama!

Tired of shelling out for dry cleaning or worse – showing up in stinky concert clothes? We’ve got your back.

Why is formalwear usually dry-clean only?
Let’s be real. By now, most of us have tossed our "dry-clean only" concert pieces in the washer and prayed for the best. But those pesky "Dry-Clean Only" tags? They scare us off. So why do designers insist on labeling everything as dry-clean only?

The Truth Behind the Label
It’s all about convenience—and not in your favor. Some designers simply skip the step of wash-testing their garments. Slapping on a "dry-clean only" tag shifts the responsibility to you, so if your piece doesn’t survive the wash, it’s not on them.

Is Blackstrad’s concert attire machine washable?
Absolutely. We’ve done the work to make sure all our pieces can handle it, from our long-sleeve black blouses to our Modern Tux Pant. Our concert attire is designed for easy care, and every label includes the same wash instructions: machine wash on cold, hang dry, DO NOT IRON. Hot water can shrink certain fabrics, so just keep it cool.

As for drying? Skip the hot air, and hang your clothes up to dry. If you’re in a rush, you can tumble dry on NO HEAT.

What's the best way to get wrinkles out of my concert clothes?

Steaming over ironing, hands down. Steaming is quicker, more efficient, and much gentler on fabrics. Lyocell, for example, is a no-go for ironing—it can scorch too easily. While you can iron our pieces, we still recommend steaming for the best results. A high-quality steamer can get your garment wrinkle-free in just 2-3 minutes, but even a budget-friendly handheld steamer does the trick.

I really want to watch a video that shows me exactly what to do.

Here ya go!

Why switch to machine-washable concert wear?
It’s not just about convenience. Cold washing and air drying is way more sustainable for the planet. Less laundry means less wear and tear – and no more funky smells.

The Downsides of Dry Cleaning
Traditional dry cleaning relies on harsh chemicals that are bad for the environment and can irritate sensitive skin. Oh, and let’s not forget how expensive it gets over time. Washing at home is easier on your wallet and better for the earth.

No more stressing over laundry day. At Blackstrad, our goal from the beginning was to create sustainable formalwear, so your concert wardrobe can stay fresh, eco-friendly, and totally low-maintenance.
